Areas in Missoula, and the NorthWest, were home to the Séliš, Ql̓ispé and Ksanka people. Major location are being renamed in the aboriginal tongue such as the future Sx͏ʷix͏ʷ͏uytis Smx̣e Bridge, currently called Higgins Street Bridge.
