Shannon Rae Burns, 44, passed away on Sept. 21 at her home in St. Ignatius.

Born January 1, 1978, in Ronan, Shannon was the epitome of a cowgirl. She was raised in the Bob Marshall Wilderness riding her mule Rachel while guiding guests with her parents at the Bob Marshall Wilderness Ranch. Shannon received a 4 year full ride scholarship to Montana State Univ., after which she attended South Dakota for 2 years.

To quote her philosophy it would be best said that “Life is more beautiful with you in the world.”

She was preceded in death by her father Virgil Burns.

Survivors include her mother Barbara Burns of St. Ignatius; son Cason Sabers of Whitewood, SD; brothers Braiden Burns (Brenda) of Helena and Virgil Ellis of Taloga, OK and a nephew Conner Burns of Bozeman.
