Matthew Curtis Edwards

Matthew Edward Curtis Edwards, 40, was born December 26, 1981, to Brian and Patty Edwards in Missoula. Matthew was the stepson to Trudi Edwards (Brian) and Bill Alde (Patty). He was one of four brothers Jeremiah (Summer), Nathan (Jessie), Darin (Sabah) and step sibling to three brothers and three sisters; Dani Owens (Ronny), Mike Pardee (Kyla), Tricia Pardee (Josh), Steve Gunderson, Brian Gunderson (Bobbie) and Christy Novak (Larry). 

Matthew grew up in Arlee and attended Arlee Schools, graduating in 2000. As a young man, Matthew loved fishing, animals, creating art, and riding bikes with his brothers. After high school Matthew worked for a local outfitter, setting up camps in the rugged Montana wilderness. 

Matt met Heather in 2001, happily married for 21 years they raised cattle and their beautiful seven children. He loved chasing around their beautiful wild granddaughter in the yard. 

Matthew was preceded in death by Bette Edwards, Steve Pardee, a sister-in-law Heather Edwards and his father in law Larry Gariepy. 

He is also survived by his wife Heather Edwards; children; son Cody Couture, granddaughter Sloane Couture, daughter Meggie Couture, son Roper Edwards, Daughters Cherish Edwards, son Ecko Edwards, daughter Gunner Edwards, son Nash Edwards; his mother in law Lettie Gariepy, sister in laws Bille (Tyler) Dumont, Shaunda (Pete) Koberg; grandparents Everett & Rose Edens, Robert & Irene Job as well as numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. A great uncle to all his nieces and nephews and an amazing gruncle to his great nieces and nephews too! 

A rosary was held at 7 pm Thursday evening in the St. Ignatius Catholic Mission with Mass being celebrated at 10 AM Friday, July 8th at the St Ignatius Mission. Burial will follow in Snyelmn Sntmtmne and a reception will follow in the church. A benefit account for the family has been set up at Valley Bank in St. Ignatius.
