SPOKANE, WA — Earl A. Conley, born on October 15, 1943, to Agnes Macintosh, in Claremore OK, passed away on November 16, 2018 surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with pneumonia.

Growing up in Oklahoma, Earl chose to further his education at Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas. Upon graduation Earl joined the military and served in the U.S. Air Force. Completing four tours in Vietnam, Earl then became a presidential guard for U.S. President Johnson.

Leaving the military, and moving to the small community of Elk WA, Earl earned his electrician journeyman’s license and gained employment at the Alcoa plant, where he worked for several decades prior to retiring.

In his off time Earl could often be found working in the woods, hunting, fishing or riding horses. Raising horses was a passion for him. He preferred Appaloosa horses which he believed to be some of the best daily work horses he had. He had a deep compassion and love for animals. Many times he would take in stray puppies or kittens, and more than once got in trouble for bringing a whole litter of pups home, because he didn’t want them to be separated or be without a loving home. His most beloved pets were his coyote, named Wylie, and his English bulldog, named Frog. When not working with livestock on the family farm, dad would be in his garage, working on a car and singing Elvis tunes. More than once if checked on he would grab us kids and dance in the driveway and around the garage.

Earl taught his children the value of a man’s word, good work ethic, compassion for animals, and many life lessons. His children can stand tall, knowing he wasn’t perfect but that he worked all his life to insure his children had a good start in life and strong values. He stood for what he believed in, even if it meant standing alone.

Preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Macintosh, stepfather Jack Carhgill, brother Tom Conley, and grandson Blaine Conley-Robinson. Earl is survived by his wife Jane, children, Tom (Robyn) Conley, Alicia Conley, Naomi Conley-Robinson, Charles (Ve) Conley, and Jesse Conley. Grandchildren, Jerad, Zackary, Kendra, Amethyst, Danisha, Danielle, Jessica, and Janey.

No services are planned at this time. Cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be placed in Oklahoma at the Metoka cemetary next to his mother.
