FLATHEAD RESERVATION — Schools that shutdown to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus will continue to serve breakfast and lunch. Ronan, Polson, Arlee, St. Ignatius, Charlo, and Two Eagle River schools have all assured students that they will be fed during the school closures. Volunteers and staff from the community are working hard to assure every student is fed.
Ronan Schools will be serving in 10 different locations throughout School District 30. Breakfast and lunch will be served from March 16-27. Breakfast is 8 a.m.-9 a.m.; lunch will be served 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. They will be serving in the Pablo area at the Pablo Elementary parking lot, Sparrow Lane, breakfast from 8 a.m.-8:25 a.m.; lunch is 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m.; North Burnt Pine breakfast from 8:30 a.m.-9 a.m.; lunch is 12 p.m.-12:30 p.m. at Joe Dog Drive, and SKC Bookstore. They will serve in the Ronan area at the west entrance of Ronan Middle School, Central Pache, and Clarice Paul: breakfast from 8 a.m.-8:25 a.m.; lunch 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Woodcock breakfast from 8 a.m.-8:25 a.m.; lunch 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at Pewlosap Lane, Whites Meats on Terrace Lake Road, Kicking Horse Center, and the North Crow Clubhouse. Ronan will serve any kids in the area from 0-18 years old. On Tuesday, Ronan served nearly 150 breakfasts and 300 lunches.
Polson Schools will be serving in seven different locations across School District 23. Breakfast will be served 8 a.m.-9 a.m., lunch will be served 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. They will be serving at Cherry Valley Elementary, Linderman Elementary, Turtle Lake Head Start, Elmo Community Center, Big Arm Fire Department, and they will only be serving during lunch hours at Dayton Elementary, and Valley View School.
Arlee schools will be providing lunches via bus route to March 27. School vehicles will depart from campus at 11 a.m. They will provide sacks with a lunch and next day’s breakfast items. They will stop at every scheduled bus stop and drop off lunches to waiting families. On March 17, they delivered 186 lunches and on March 18, they delivered 267 lunches. St. Ignatius schools provided five meals for lunch and five meals for breakfast for students to pick up at the school. School staff and community volunteers worked together to serve students on March 17, and 18. They gave out food to 280 students. St. Ignatius school quarter ended March 20. Students were able to grab stuff from their lockers and turn in work on March 17, and 18.
Charlo Schools will be providing lunches for pick up and/or delivery for students who have signed up. They will be delivering lunches to those signed up starting March 20. If you would like to sign up for breakfast and lunches, contact 406-644-2206 ext. 229 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Two Eagle River School will be delivering food and lessons to students via bus routes. Breakfast and lunch will be delivered each day starting March 23. TERS north route first stop 11 a.m. starting at Pablo, Clairmont Road, Turtle Lake, Polson, Jette, Big Arm, and Elmo. T.E.R.S. south route 11 a.m. first stop. Clairmont Rd., Canyon Mill Road, Ronan, Pache, Woodcock, Charlo, Moiese, and Old Agency. TERS South Route-2: 11:30 a.m. first stop. Hill Top Road, Foot Hills Road, Airport Road, Foot Hills Road 2, Mission Creek, East Mission (Long House), Mission, Ravalli, Arlee, and Evaro.
• Supper will also be available Monday-Friday, 4:30 p.m.to 6 p.m. to all school aged children at the Ronan Boys and Girls Club House, 62579 US Highway 93, starting March 17.
