POLSON — Black Mountain Software announced their 18th Annual Education Scholarship Awards for 2021. Graduates Sophia Bohl from Billings Central High School and Bethany Barnes from Whitefish High School were recently awarded the company’s higher education scholarships. Both Sophia and Bethany will receive $1,000 to continue their education.
Sophia will be attending Montana State University this fall to pursue a major in Biology and Chemistry and become an anesthesiologist. Bethany plans to study Biomedical Science at the College of Idaho and incorporate her ventriloquist skills to be a physical therapist for children.
Black Mountain Software awards two scholarships to graduating Montana high school seniors who will be attending an accredited institution of higher education, regardless of their field of study. This includes trade schools, technical schools, colleges or universities. The scholarship application requires students to answer the following essay question: How will you make a difference in our world?
“There was an uptick in the number of scholarship applications received this year and that was pretty exciting. The essay question provoked some inspired and well thought out responses which made it challenging for the committee to select a winner. It was fascinating to see what our graduating Montana high school seniors are passionate about, as well as how they believe they will make a difference going forward,” said Donna Hislop, Black Mountain Software’s Business Manager and head of the scholarship award committee.
Black Mountain Software supports continuing education for Montana youth through this annual scholarship essay competition. The company contributes to the enrichment of people and communities in which we live and work through charitable activities, donations and volunteerism.
