No Form, No Payment 

To remind the membership, everyone MUST submit a form to receive a CSKT COVID Relief payment. No exceptions. The US Treasury informed CSKT that for this payment to be non-taxable it cannot be like a per capita and must be based on individual need, which is why the form includes questions on COVID-19 induced hardships. Approximately, 2,800 forms have been submitted at this point. Be on the lookout for a confirmation email or text confirming that you have successfully submitted the form.

Another point to remember, a Tribal ID is only needed if you change your direct deposit information.

What is the CSKT COVID-19 Relief Request for Support?

The CSKT received funds under the CARES Act passed by Congress in 2020. On June 23, 2020, the Tribal Council approved several priorities for spending the $44.3 million received under the CARES Act. The largest priority for spending was Economic Stimulus and Relief for Individual Tribal Members with an allocation of $15.2 million. 

Who is eligible to receive a distribution for CSKT COVID-19 Relief?

All persons who meet all of the following requirements are eligible to receive a distribution.

  • • Enrolled member of CSKT as of July 16, 2020, 
  • And
  • • Living on August 14, 2020
  • And
  • • Submit a Request for Support by July 30, 2020

What is the amount of the distribution?

Each enrolled CSKT member is eligible to receive approximately $1,800.

How will CSKT process the distribution?

Enrolled CSKT members may voluntarily complete the Request for Support that is available on www.cskt.org

The Request for Support, upon verification of all information submitted, will be the basis for processing the distribution.

Why do I have to complete a form for this distribution? 

To issue this distribution as nontaxable and not have to report it as miscellaneous income to the Internal Revenue Service, the CSKT must document need. Checking the boxes on the form (decreased income, etc.) provides CSKT the record needed for each eligible person.

In what form will the distribution be paid?

The completion of the Request for Support Form provides a choice of a check by standard mail, or a direct deposit/prepaid card if currently in place for regular per capita payments. 

When completing the Request for Support Form, you can choose to sign up for or change direct deposit or prepaid card. You must compete that process prior to July 30, 2020.

When will CSKT process the distributions?

The CSKT will process the distributions on August 14, 2020 to all eligible persons who submitted a Request for Support, by the method of payment selected on the form. 

Checks will be postmarked August 14, 2020

Direct deposits will be posted on August 14, 2020

How will children receive the distribution?

Each minor child will receive the distribution as requested on the form by the adult parent, guardian, or other designated payee of record of the CSKT Enrollment Office as of July 30, 2020.

How do I sign up for direct deposit for this distribution?

To start or change direct deposit that will apply to future per capita payments AND to this distribution, please go to www.cskt.org and complete the Direct Deposit Form.

I moved after the April 2020 per capita was paid. If I complete the Request for Support Form, will it update my per capita address?

Yes. The Request for Support Form applies to the CSKT COVID-19 Relief distribution and to future per capita payments. In the future, to change your address for Enrollment and/or Per Capita, please go to www.cskt.org and complete the Enrollment/Per Capita Address Change Form.

My grandchildren have lived with me for the past year, but I’m not the payee for their per capita payments. Can I apply for the distribution in their behalf?

Minor children’s distributions may only be paid by the request of the parent, guardian, or other designated payee of record of the CSKT Enrollment Office as of July 30, 2020.

My family has several minor enrolled foster children. Are they eligible to receive the distribution?

Yes, if the Request for Support is made by the appropriate agency in their behalf. Foster children’s disbursements will be under the supervision of CSKT Social Services.

Are persons in nursing homes or other care institutions eligible for the distribution?

Yes. However, any persons who are incapacitated and/or have guardians or other custodians must have the application made in their behalf.

Are persons who are incarcerated eligible for the distribution?

Yes. However, they must submit the Request for Support Form and distributions may be subject to deductions imposed by the correctional institution.

Will any portion of the payments be subject to deductions such as for back child support or delinquent financial accounts?

No. The Request for Support is based on economic need and is not subject to withholding that may be ordered by any court or other entity.

My household receives TANF and SNAP benefits. Will my benefits be reduced by this distribution?

No. This distribution is non-taxable under the Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act of 2014, and is not income. 

I don’t want to apply for the distribution. Will this affect my eligibility for future benefits?

The submission of the Request for Support is entirely voluntarily. Choosing not to submit the Request will not affect future per capita payments or any other distributions for which you may be eligible.

What if I missed the July 30, 2020 deadline to submit the form?

Any persons who did not submit the Request by the July 30, 2020 deadline are not eligible to receive the distribution.

I don’t know my enrollment number and/or I don’t know my child(ren)’s numbers. Where can I find it?

The enrollment ID number can be found on the following:

  1. Current CSKT Enrollment ID card;
  2. Certificate issued by CSKT Enrollment Office upon initial enrollment action;
  3. Letter issued by CSKT Enrollment Office for income tax exemption or similar purpose; 
  4. Per capita payment check stub;
  5. Individual Indian Money (IIM) statement; recorded with prefix 203-UOXXXXX
  6. Current statement from Tribal Credit.
