PABLO — Shane Morigeau, candidate for state auditor and current state legislator, received a formal endorsement from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes’ Council Tuesday. Morigeau, a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, grew up in Ronan and graduated from the University of Montana School of Law. Shane started his career as a prosecutor for CSKT. After almost two-years as a prosecuting attorney, Shane transitioned over as in-house legal counsel for CSKT, providing litigation and transactional services since 2013.

He has received support from Former MT State Auditor Monica Lindeen, the Missoula Fire Fighters Local 271, the Montana Federation of Public Employees, Montana Conservation Voters, more than 35 legislators and other tribal governments. Fort Belknap and Northern Cheyenne Tribal Councils have endorsed Morigeau along with the Rocky Mountain Tribal Leaders Council, Congresswoman Sharice Davids, and former MT Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau.

“We are proud to support Shane in his run for state auditor. Shane has proven he will fight for fairness and equality for all Montanans,” said Shelly R. Fyant, Chairwoman of CSKT’s Tribal Council. “He’s a tireless advocate and protector.”

“I started campaigning eleven months ago because Montana deserves a candidate that takes the time to listen and use that information to improve this office,” said State Representative Shane Morigeau. “This is an opportunity to ensure that all Montanans have affordable healthcare and fair and meaningful coverage. As state auditor, I’ll hold insurance companies accountable, I’ll protect working families from investment fraud, I’ll vote to protect and expand access to our public lands, and I’ll do everything I can to protect those with preexisting conditions.” said State Representative Shane Morigeau.
