FLATHEAD RESERVATION — For those who had signed up for an absentee ballot for the July primary election, you will also receive a ballot in the mail in mid-October for the General Election.

While the COVID-19 pandemic had become more manageable earlier this year, the variant strains are continuing to spread fast and increase infection numbers so we must still work to protect ourselves.

During the July 31st Primary Election, 1,230 votes were cast. A full 47 percent were from absentee ballots, the highest ever.

By voting absentee, the hope is that more people will take advantage of this vote-from-home system, which will keep crowds much lower and offer that much more protection to our community. CSKT has already lost too many elders and loved ones due to COVID.

For those who have not yet requested an absentee ballot, there’s still time to sign up before the December 18 General Election. A letter will be going out soon to all Tribal members from the election committee providing the opportunity to sign up for an absentee ballot. Those who have already signed up will also receive a letter confirming their request.

Should you have any questions about the 2021 elections please send a note to Robert.mcdonald@cskt.org or call 406-675-2700, ext. 1222. Let’s get a high turnout for the 2021 Tribal election.
