POLSON — The hustle and bustle of summer has ended here at the Library and we are headed into a lot of fun activities this fall. Thank you to everyone who attended our Solar Eclipse Block Party. We had an amazing turnout and distributed nearly 900 pairs of glasses on August 21.

Our children’s programming, with Youth Services Librarian Kendra Mullison, will start up again on Monday, September 11. Kendra has a fun season-themed Storytime lineup and will continue Mother Goose, Makerspace, Bedtime Bounce, and Friday fun days throughout the fall.

Did you know that Canada celebrated its 150th year of Confederation this year? In honor of this milestone, they are offering free entry into all of their national parks. We are offering a free program about Canada’s national parks called “Canadian Mountain National Parks: A Celebration of Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation in 2017.” Sharon Randolph, writer and teacher, will present the program with a focus on the history of the Canadian parks nearest to us. The program is Tuesday, September 19 at 5:30 pm. We hope you will join us and be inspired to travel north. We are fortunate to be within a day’s drive of several of Canada’s beautiful parks including Waterton Lakes, Jasper, and Banff. These parks are beautiful to visit in the fall when the trees are changing colors.

Angela has planned an adult coloring program for Wednesday, September 13 at 2:30 and 5:30 pm. She will be presenting a mini-workshop on matting and framing your coloring masterpieces. She has some fun new tools and techniques for this program. If you haven’t been to one of Angela’s coloring programs, you should definitely attend. They make for a very fun and enjoyable afternoon/evening.

We now have a library gift shop in our new beautiful display case in our foyer. This display case contains various gift items that are available for purchase. All of the proceeds from the sale of these items will go toward the purchase of an item on our wish list. The first item we are raising funds for is a 3D printer that will be available for public use. Stop by and check out our selection. You can even pay with a credit or debit card if you like.

We are now on our evening schedule. We are open Monday - Thursday 11am to 8pm, Friday 11am to 6pm, and Saturday 11am to 4pm. We open at 10am on days that have a children’s program. Visit our website www.northlakecountylibrary.org and our Facebook page for updates on the happenings at the Library!
