CSKT releases aquatic invasive species website

From CSKT Natural Resources Department

POLSON — The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Natural Resources Department announces the development of an Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) website. The website address is www.csktnomussssels.org

This website is designed to provide public education and share information about the science, prevention about the risk of AIS in the water bodies of the Flathead Reservation.

The www.csktnomussels.org website is designed to provide updated news and information from the CSKT Natural Resources Department and the AIS Technical Team in an easily searchable format.

The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes began extensive public education and rulemaking to prevent the spread of invasive Quagga and Zebra mussels into the Flathead Basin. Invasive Mussels were detected in Montana in 2016.

The website included 2017 CSKT Regulations for Watercraft on the Flathead Indian Reservation. The website also includes information on prevention of the spread of AIS.

There are downloadable brochures, a Factsheet and news releases in the Latest News and Resources section of the website menu. The website will be updated as new information comes available and is distributed to local media.
