Rivers are high
River levels are continuing to remain high and Wildland Recreation Program manager, Les Bigcrane, advises boaters, campers and visitors to Flathead Indian Reservation fishing access and camping sites to use caution along the banks and to check for possible site closures.
“If changing weather and above average river levels continue we can expect continued high water at some of our river access and camp sites,” said Bigcrane. “We are monitoring daily and may post closures at some sites for safety concerns.”
Rivers currently remain open during high water, but Wildland Recreation staff reminds boaters and floaters to avoid the swift, cold water and to be aware of submerged debris and underwater hazards.
