Ferry Basin and Little Money Hunting Permit applications available
The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Wildlife Management Program announce the availability of the 2014 Ferry Basin elk and Little Money bighorn sheep hunting permit applications on June 19. Permit applications will be available at the Tribal Division of Fish, Wildlife, Recreation and Conservation office at 406 6th Avenue East in Polson, Natural Resources Department, 301 Main Street in Polson, and at the Tribal Complex in Pablo. Applications will also be available on the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Internet website as a pdf document. The pdf application can be printed, completed and mailed or dropped off at the three permit application pickup sites listed above.
Hunting elk and bighorn sheep within the Ferry Basin and Little Money Wildlife Management Units is restricted by hunting, fishing and recreation regulations for tribal members. The Tribal Council sets these regulations and annual harvest quotas. For 2014, 30 Bull Elk Permits will be available for drawing for the Ferry Basin Wildlife Management Unit. That permit will allow the permittee to harvest either sex elk. Successful applicants will also be able to obtain a Cow Elk Permit. Those hunters who want to hunt only cow elk can obtain two Cow Elk Permits. The elk hunting season in the Ferry Basin Wildlife Management Unit will open on September 1 and end on December 31.
The Tribal Council also approved a drawing for hinting permits for 8 Bighorn Sheep rams and 4 Bighorn Sheep Ewes during the hunting season, which open on September 1 and end on November 30.
The deadline for applications is Wednesday, July 23 by 5:30 pm, with no exceptions.
