Cory Taylor Cornelius graduates from Dartmouth
HANOVER, NH — GRADUATION TRIUMPH! Our son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, and “cuzint,” Cory Taylor Cornelius, has completed his studies at Dartmouth College. It has been 10 years of commitment resulting in the bestowment of the title of Dr. Cornelius. Cory received his PhD in Computer Science on June 8, 2014, and we are honored as a family to make this memorable and remarkable announcement of accomplishment.
Cory is a Kootenai tribal member (from the Mathias family) enrolled at the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes in Montana. Cory also descends from the Cornelius and Schuyler families in Oneida, WI, and the Eastman family in Sisseton, SD.
Cory was raised in the Los Angeles area and graduated from Arcadia High School in 2003. He was accepted to Dartmouth College as an undergrad where he double majored receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Native American Studies in 2007. He took a year off from school and worked for his professor before applying and being accepted into the Computer Science PhD program.
Cory now lives in Portland, OR and works for Intel as a researcher. Proud parents are Carlos Cornelius (Oneidea) and Kym Mathias (Kootenai/Dakota); maternal grandparents are Fern Eastman-Mathias and Joseph Mathias (both deceased); and paternal grandparents are Cleo and Wayne Cornelius. Cory’s Dartmouth legacy and great-great uncle/grandpa is Dr. Charles “Ohiyesa” Alexander Eastman, Class of 1887.
