McDonald Family Reunion is set for June 28
POST CREEK — All Angus McDonald descendants, families, and guests are invited to a family reunion at the Fort Connah Trading Post on Saturday, June 28.
Festivities will begin at noon with a potluck, so bring your favorite dish to share. Please bring chairs, folding tables, and “pop up” covers if you have them. Plan on staying all afternoon and into the evening. There will be portable toilets on the grounds.
Camping is available, however there is no water so you will need to bring that in with you. Some families are planning to camp Friday and Saturday nights. The grounds around the post are nice and the lawn is being mowed. There is no charge for the facility. We will have a free will donation during the reunion to help pay for the toilets and other miscellaneous costs.
We are hoping that all members of the Angus McDonald Clan will become part of the Fort Connah Restoration Society. There will be applications on hand at the reunion to join the Society. The costs are: individuals - $10; families - $25; trapper - $50; voyager - $100; chief trader - $250; chief factor - $500.
We now have a “roughed out” walking trail to the cemetery from the Fort. People needing assistance walking will not be able to use this and have to come in another way. The trail is approximately 1/4 of a mile.
Please pass the word on the reunion to all McDonald descendants you see. For more info, please call Joe at 471-5538, Tracie at 270-1452, or Al at 829-1588.
