Cheerful Heart has served Lake County cancer patients for 12 years
POLSON — Cheerful Heart, Inc. has served Lake County cancer patients for 12 years. The Polson-based non-profit organization provides non-medical services at no charge to county cancer patients who are currently in treatment.
Cheerful Heart services vary from transportation to treatment and doctor appointments, running errands, yard-work to meal preparation, walking dogs and more. Cheerful Heart (CH) connects with cancer patients at the Polson Oncology Clinic each Tuesday where soup and other snacks are provided and served by CH volunteers. A Lending Library of more than 80 book titles and a Wigs, Hats & Scarves Program are also available to patients and their families at the clinic located on the third floor of St. Joseph Medical Center.
In 2012 Cheerful Touch was established. Through Cheerful Touch local massage therapists and cosmetologists can be scheduled to help patients with skin and hair issues and relaxing massages. These services are covered by Cheerful Heart at no charge to the patient.
A Cancer Support Group meets from noon to 1 p.m., on the second and fourth Mondays at the United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. The group is open to anyone affected by cancer... every one is welcome, any time.
