S & K Holding Company, Inc. changes name
By Adriana Fehrs
PABLO — S & K Holding Company, Inc. is changing their name as a part of a rebranding effort.
The effort began last year with the approval of the business’ strategic plan by the Tribal Council. Actual changes were initiated at the beginning of 2014 by relocating all operations of the business under Sovereign Leasing & Financing, Inc, which provides business leasing for Tribal government operations, tribal enterprises, and tribal member owned businesses.
The first announcement to the public was made at the CSKT Economic Development Office tribal member business meeting on April 30.
As an effort to rebrand the company, S & K Holding Company, Inc. is now ‘Flathead Reservation Business Services’. The Board of Directors approved the action through an amendment to the Articles of Incorporation on Monday May 5.
Steve Clairmont, General Manager, says, “The change is gradual, and will not effect our clients.” Individuals who use Sovereign Leasing should not expect any changes. Operations will still run as normal. “Our primary focus is on helping tribal entrepreneurs.” Sovereign Leasing & Financing, Inc. (SLF) will retain its Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) certification from the U.S. Department of Treasury.
SLF is 100 percent owned by Flathead Reservation Business Services, which is fully owned by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. Both businesses are owned and operated as Tribal enterprises and support the Tribes’ economic development efforts.
Because of the high cost associated with marketing and rebranding, additional vanity changes, such as replacing their business sign and changing their website, will occur as funding becomes available over the next year.
