Felicite McDonald among the winners at Ronan Pioneer Days
RONAN — Felicite Sapiel McDonald, 90 (center), along with her daughter, Vi Trahan (right), and her son, Arnie McDonald (left), won the “Best Native American Dressed” and the “Best Native American Dressed Group” in the Ronan Pioneer Days’ parade.
Felicite enjoys keeping the tradition of riding in the local parade. When she was around 4 years of age, she travelled to parades in Bozeman, Chicago, and New York with her mother, Agnes Finley Pilko, and step-father, John Pilko. Other members that travelled to these parades were Eneas and Isabelle Granjo, Michel and Mary Kizer, Mose and Ellen Big Sam, Andrew Ninepipe, and Adolph “Happy” Ninepipe. She tells the story of Scott and Lane, from Arlee, who would gather up the group and travel to these parades.
