Fires reported on Flathead Reservation
The Division of Fire had four fire starts during this past weekend.
A fire less than 5 acres was discovered in the Jette area Saturday morning June 29. The Division of Fire engine crews were dispatched to the same fire Sunday June 30. Both fires appeared to be after hours party fires. Both fires were extinguished and put on patrol status.
A third fire was discovered by DOF engine crews at 2:30 p.m. June 30; this fire was a result of a unattended campfire which was left smoldering at the east side of the Buffalo Bridge that spans the Flathead River near Irvine Flats.
At 5:30 p.m. Sunday June 30 the Division of Fire received a notification of a grass fire burning 1 mile east of the Perma Bridge. One type four and one type six fire engines were sent to this fire. Other resources that were on the fire was two type six engines, one from the DNRC and the other from Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department. The DNRC and Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department engines were released from the fire but the Division of Fire will have a short fire crew plus one type six engine staged at this location for night time suppression. This fire burned 3 acres of pine litter and grass/brush.
All fires are considered suspicious and will be investigated. With higher temperatures anticipated during the 4th of July weekend, the Division of Fire cautions the public about potential fire danger and firework activity.
