Informational meeting to discuss Ronan Urban: U.S. 93 Public Update set for March 4
RONAN — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is conducting an informational meeting to discuss a proposal to rebuild 3.5 miles of Highway 93 surrounding and through Ronan in Lake County. An open house will begin at 5:30 pm with a meeting presentation at 7 pm on Monday, March 4, at the Community Center located at 300 3rd Avenue NW.
Community participation is a very important part of the process, and the public is encouraged to attend. This is an opportunity to review and comment on the de minimis effects of the project on the city park which is Section 4(f) property. Opinion, comments and concerns may also be submitted in writing at the meeting, or by mail to Miki Lloyd, Consultant Project Engineer, MDT, PO Box 201001, Helena MT 59620-1001, or online at www.mdt.mt.gov/mdt/comment_form.shtml. Please indicate comments are for project CN 1744013 and submit comments by April 4.
Proposed work includes roadway reconstruction of U.S. 93 including reconstruction of 1st Avenue SW as a one-way southbound street and reconstruction of the existing U.S. 93 as a one-way northbound street; installation of traffic signals, sidewalks and construction of a separate shared- use (bicycle, pedestrian) path which will affect the city park. The purpose of the project is to improve capacity and safety by widening the roadway with additional through travel lanes, installation of turning lanes, and to improve non-motorized travel by construction of a separate shared- use (bicycle, pedestrian) path along the length of the project.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2017, depending on completion of design and availability of funds.
New right-of way and relocation of utilities will be required. MDT representatives are contacting landowners prior to construction regarding property acquisition, access and temporary construction permits.
