TSSD to provide community meetings on existing policy manual
- August 2, 2012
PABLO — In 2009 the CSKT Tribal Social Service Department received the Title IV-E Direct Funding Grant, designed to give the Tribes time, money and resources to plan for removing the State as middle man and taking over the funding direct from the Federal agencies to run their own IV-E Program with support from the State. These three years of funding have allowed Tribal Social Services Department to examine critical systems needed to support the Tribes crucial IV-E funding for CPS, Foster Care and Guardianship for our children and families.
The Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008, Public Law 110-351, allows Indian tribes, tribal organizations, and tribal consortia to directly receive Title IV-E funds to operate foster care, adoption assistance and at Tribal option, kinship guardianship assistance programs under Title IV-E of the Social Security Act. Implementation of IV-E Direct Funding will complement and strengthen existing services being provided to our tribal families and our tribal children.
As the Tribes move closer to submitting the tribal plan for Title IV-E direct funding, TSSD would like to invite anyone to attend community meetings hosted by them, which will include a presentation of information for the public. TSSD would like to get the community’s comments and feedback on the existing Tribal Social Service Practic Manual, which guides the delivery of social services and child welfare services by the Tribal Social Service Department. This gives the community an opportunity to voice their influences about the manual and discuss any issues.
A copy of the current Tribal Social Service Department Practic Manual is available online at www.cskt.org under the Notices.
You can also send in your questions or comments in writing to: Constance Morigeau, TSSD Dept. Head or Bev Swaney, Title IV-E; P.O. Box 278, Pablo, MT; 59855.
The community meetings will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the month of August and one Friday. Please involve yourself in one of the public meetings as listed.
