CSKT Tribal Council Trust Fund Settlement meetings underway
PABLO — The first meeting was held in the Elmo District Monday night with eight of the Tribal Council Representatives and approximately 100 tribal members present regarding the Trust Fund Settlement money.
Everyone is invited to attend these community meetings hosted by the Tribal Council and includes staff presentations to help inform the membership.
Mr. Ranald McDonald, Managing Attorney, Tribal Legal Department and Mr. Clayton Matt, Tribal Services Division Manager provided information to the membership on possible impacts to programs if the Tribal Council approves dispersing the settlement monies. Once all of the districts have had an opportunity to respond to what should be done with the settlement monies, the Tribal Council will make a decision. Council has emphatically stated they have not made any decisions and would like to hear from the membership.
As of press time Tuesday, the Tribal Council was scheduled to meet with the Arlee District Tuesday night and Dixon District on Wednesday.
Council would like to encourage everyone to submit his or her thoughts on the settlement in writing. Council recognizes that not everyone is comfortable speaking in front of a crowd, so those who choose not to attend the public meetings, please consider submitting your comments in writing to: Settlement Comments, c/o Tom Johnson, CSKT Administration, P.O. Box 278, Pablo, MT 59855; or by email at tomj@cskt.org. The remaining schedule is as follows:
