2012 Elders Stickgame Tournament winners announced

WORLEY, Ida. — A team of mostly local Arlee residents recently took home top prize ululim at the 2012 Elders Stickgame Tourney here. The tournament held at the Coeur d’Alene Casino featured numerous adult and youth tournaments.
Friday Scramble had 32 teams with a $500 added purse for a $3260 total prize money. Irea Santios took first winning $2560 and Kevin Ball held on to second for $1100 in prize money.
Saturday’s main tournament had 121 teams vying for the $5000 prize money. Taking it all was Arlene Beasten of Reddear, Alberta; Johnny Arlee, Kevin Thomas, Gordon Songers and Patrica (Nomee) Songers all of Arlee.
Second place winners were Chaskae Jim, Phyllisa Mathias and Reyra Dick all of Ronan; Mary Dick, Nespelem, Washington; and Janice Peasley of Omak, Washington. Their team took home $3500 in prize money.
Taking home the $2500 consolation prize for third place was Idaho team members: LaVina Louie and Debbie Louie-McGee both from Worley, Jackson Louie, Isiah Louie and Jay Louie of Plummer.
Fourth place $1000 consolation prize was also won by Idaho players, John Abraham, Deb Louie, Ernie Stensgar and Dixie Stensgar all of Plummer and Jeannie Louie of Worley.
The traditional game of Wah-luks with a $1000 added purse had twelve entrants, which was won by Vera Hernandez of Toppenish, Washington. Second place finisher was Daylon Dick of Nespelem, Washington.
Sunday featured a youth tournament, which was won by Billy Dean Wapass of Alberta, Canada; Xavier Pierre of Ronan took second place; third place went to Ina Oldshoes of Alberta, Canada; and fourth place was won by Jaeden Matt of Spokane, Washington.
