PPL discusses 2015 Kerr Dam transfer with CSKT officials

Key negotiation leaders from PPL Montana arrived last week to meet with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes’ Energy Department and the Tribal Council to discuss details of the 2015 transfer of Kerr Dam related to operations and power marketing. Dave Kinnard, PPL attorney came with key PPL officers and energy marketing staff for the all-day meeting here in Pablo. The CSKT Department of Energy has communicated regularly with Kinnard and the PPL staff, but last week’s visit was the first visit held here.

In 1985, CSKT became a co-license holder of Kerr Dam with exclusive right to acquire the dam beginning September 5, 2015. As part of the acquisition process, PPL Montana is obligated to train CSKT staff. Beginning this year, PPL will begin formal training of CSKT Department of Energy employees.
