THD offers smoke alarms to eligible beneficiaries

Tribal Health would like to remind beneficiaries that the purpose of the smoke alarm is to give warning of a fire. Smoke alarms need to be placed in hallways leading to each bedroom. Always remember to change smoke alarm batteries when you change your clocks.

Have a fire escape plan for yourself and your family and practice your plan. When developing your fire escape plan, consider the dangers and your actions such as: when there is fire and/or smoke, crawl low to ground under the smoke and exit your home quickly. Once you are outside you need to go to your family fire escape plan meeting place. Each family needs to have a practiced fire escape plan. Find a meeting place outside to make sure everyone is accountable.

Remember every day a smoke alarm saves a life.

Tribal Health Department Fitness Centers will have smoke alarms available for low-income Tribal Health beneficiaries. Please contact your local Tribal Fitness Center at the following locations, Elmo Fitness: 849-5616; Ronan Fitness: 676-0138; and St. Ignatius Fitness: 745-4242. If you have any additional questions, please call Margene Asay at 745-3525 or 675-2700, ext. 5072.
