Lady Bison to participate in the Walla Walla Classic Tournament

PABLO — The Salish Kootenai College Lady Bison are once again hopping on Willie Nelson’s bus for some more on-the-road-again hoop tussles. After a brief successful two game home stand against the University of Great Falls JV Lady Argonauts the Lady Bison will be stuffing their duffle bags for a westward journey to Walla Walla, Washington.

In preparation for the upcoming games this weekend as well as the rest of the season, Lady Bison coach Juan Perez has been focusing on the mental aspects of the game, on-floor communication and defense.

“We all need to know what’s happening on the court, all the time. Our actions and reactions have to become second nature,” Perez said. “In practice we have been focusing on the little details of the game. Defensively we have to work on our perimeter defense on the opposition’s guards and wings. The University of Great Falls made nine threes the first game and 13 threes the second game, nine of them were the first half and that got us a in the hole. We were able to climb out but that’s too many threes, we need to better defend the perimeter.”

The Lady Bison will participate in the Walla Walla University Classic Tournament Thursday, Jan. 26, Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28.

The three-team round-robin tourney includes Walla Walla University, Northwest Indian College and SKC.

The Lady Bison are scheduled to play NWIC 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, and WWU 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28.

The ladies swept their two games home set against UGF JV the second weekend in January. They didn’t have any scheduled games this past weekend so they should be well rested, healed and ready for the upcoming competition.

Come Monday we’ll know whether the Walla Walla Classic was sweet (2-0), semi-sweet (1-1) or teary (0-2) for the Lady Bison.

The men’s Bison are idle this weekend.
