Local poets to give reading at Salish Kootenai College on August 11

PABLO — Poets Vic Charlo and Jennifer Greene will share poems in a free public reading in the Johnny Arlee and Victor Charlo Theatre on the Salish Kootenai College (SKC) campus on August 11, at 6:30 p.m. Charlo's recently published book of Poetry, Put Shey ~ Good Enough, includes poems written in both Salish and English. Vic is also a playwright and has directed and acted in several plays produced in the northwest.

Jennifer Greene's first book of poetry entitled What I Keep was the winner of the 1998 North American Native Authors Poetry Award. Her new collection, What Lasts, was released this month by Foothills Publishing. Jennifer was recently invited to participate in an international gathering of poets in Macedonia, near Greece.

Please join the HeartLines staff in celebrating the work of these two fine, Salish poets. The SKC bookstore will be selling books for an author signing following the readings.
