Ronan Pioneer Days and Lake County Fair change schedules

RONAN — Ronan Pioneer Days Company and the Lake County Fair Board have switched weekends!!! To accommodate an ever-growing number of fun, community-based activities, Pioneer Days and the Fair have decided to reschedule their events. With 10 straight days of western entertainment, make plans for a summer to remember!

So, are you ready?? Ronan Pioneer Days occurs Friday - Sunday, July 30 - August 1. The Lake County Fair starts that Tuesday, August 3 and continues through Sunday, August 8.

Ronan Pioneer Days
Pioneer Days starts Friday night, July 30 at 7:30 PM with Bulls and Broncs, plus a couple of kid's events.

Saturday morning at 8 AM, the 3-on-3 Jamboree begins at the school's outdoor hoops. The Kiddie Parade starts at 10 AM and will go down Main Street, then north to end at the Fairgrounds. At noon, the City Slicker Rodeo (AKA stupid human tricks) will entertain you. Then at 7:30 PM Saturday night, be prepared for ridin', ropin', and wranglin' during the Pioneer Days Open Rodeo and Wild Cow Ride.

Sunday brings the Volleyball tournament in Ronan's Bockman Park starting at 9 AM and the Big Parade down Main Street at 12:30 PM. The Pioneer Days Open Rodeo and Wild Buffalo Ride starts at 3 PM and brings the Pioneer Days' weekend to a close.

Lake County Fair
If you haven't had enough fun yet, just wait!!! The Lake County Fair starts Tuesday, August 3. Come and watch the exhibitors show their cows, pigs, sheep, dogs, cats, roosters, chickens, rabbits, ducks, food, clothing, woodworking, rockets, photos, and especially themselves.

Large animal, small animal, and all other judging will occur on Tuesday - Thursday. Thursday evening brings the Small Fry Stock Show and Buyer's Appreciation Dinner at 6 PM., followed by the Market Livestock Sale at 7 PM.

Friday brings more judging, including the Beef Showmanship at 6:30 PM. The Lions Club Games for kids start at 5 PM. Next at 7:30 PM, enter the "Lake County Has Talent" valley-wide, juried talent contest. $100 goes to the first place rising star.

Saturday, August 7, starts with the Horse Show in its first year at the Ronan Fair Grounds. After that, the Large Animal and Small Animal Round Robin competitions begin at 4 PM and 5:30 PM, respectively.

The highlight of this year's Lake County Fair is a concert by Rob Quist and Great Northern, featuring special guest Tim Ryan. The concert begins at 8:30 PM. Tickets are $5 for individuals, $15 for families, and may be purchased by stopping by the Fair Office or calling 676-8660.

Finally, join 4-H, FFA and fair enthusiasts on Sunday for the Southwest Youth Rodeo. This event is open to all rodeo aficionados 18 years old or younger. A $10 non-member fee is suggested. More information can be found by calling Martha McClure at 676-8189. Early registration deadline is Thursday, July 29.
