James Steele, Jr. announces candidacy for Montana Legislature
Invites public to meet Steele, discuss ideas

PABLO — James Steele, Jr. has announced his candidacy for House
District 15 that includes voters from Arlee to Ronan to above Glacier
Park.
For the past 6 years, Steele has been on the Confederated
Salish Kootenai Tribal Council. He was the Council Chair for two terms
and has also been a representative to numerous national and
international gatherings. Last year he was selected to be a presenter
at an international environmental conference in Denmark.
“I’m running to keep the focus on serving people and ensuring
your legislative representatives reflect the values and priorities of
our community,” said Steele.
Steele is a graduate of the University of Montana. He has been
the Chair of the Montana-Wyoming Tribal Leaders Council, worked in
various negotiation sessions and has taught government classes at
Salish Kootenai College. During his career he has also served on the
Flathead Basin Commission, the Montana Community Service Commission and
the NAS Advisory Board at Washington State University.
“My years of public service have given me the opportunity to
listen and respond to the needs of many members of our community,” said
Steele. “Our communities deserve a representative in the state capitol
who will listen and work hard for them.”
The candidate will host a reception at the theater on the
campus of Salish Kootenai College between 4:30-6 p.m. on Tuesday, April
13. Everyone is welcome to come meet the candidate and join him in a
discussion of ideas and hopes for the future of Montana. Joining him
will be State Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau and
State Representative Shannon Augare.
