Public hearing slated for proposed CSKT/DNRC land exchange
RONAN — The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and the Montana
Department of Natural Resources and Conservation are evaluating two
concurrent proposed land exchanges and they invite the public to
comment on the proposal.
The lands involved in the combined exchanges are in Lake, Lewis
and Clark, Sanders and Flathead Counties. The lands proposed for
exchange consists of four sections of school trust land, all
in-holdings within the Lozeau Primitive Area and the South Fork Jocko
Primitive Area.
This exchange would allow both DNRC and CSKT to consolidate
their holdings and provide for improved management of their respective
lands. Improved management of these lands would benefit the Trust
beneficiaries, Tribal members, the public and the natural resources.
CSKT and DNRC invite public comment on this proposal.
All persons interested in the proposed exchanges are encouraged to attend the public meeting and to offer comments.
The meeting will be held between 3:00-5:00pm, Wednesday, March
10, at the Ronan Indian Senior Citizen Center, 12 Terrace Lake Rd.,
(across from Dairy Queen).
Written comments for the Ronan meeting may also be sent to:
DNRC Southwestern Land Office, 1401 27th Ave, Missoula, MT, 59804; Attn
Tony Liane; or DNRC Northwestern Land Office, 655 Timberwolf Pkwy STE
