Tribal Council elections open for candidate filing

Council approves filing fee increase; requirements remain the same

PABLO — Election time is upon us and starting today you can toss your hat in the political ring until Thursday, September 17 at 5:30 p.m. Declaration of Candidacy and a signed sworn affidavit forms must be accompanied with a non-refundable $125 filing fee. The Candidate Affidavit forms are available from the Election Committee Office. Tribal council has approved an increase in the filing fee, but the requirements for running for Tribal Council have not changed.

The incumbents in the running are from Arlee, Elmo, Polson, Ronan and St. Ignatius.

The Primary election will be October 24; General Election will be December 12 with Oath of Office set for January 1, 2010.

The election committee is Mike Kenmille, Charles Morigeau, Ernest “Bud” Moran, Terry Pitts and James Steele, Jr.
