PABLO — CSKT Council Vice-Chairman, E.T. Bud Moran accepts a thank you card from fourth grader, Veronica Koehler, of Canyon Elementary in Hungry Horse for allowing the fourth and fifth grade class to join them on Thursday, May 28 during the tribal council meeting.

The elementary class made a surprise visit arranged by fourth grade teacher Sherry Peterson from Canyon Elementary to attend the meeting, and learn first hand what a tribal council does.

“The students have been learning about Montana tribes and each student was able to pick a tribe of their choice,”

Peterson told the Tribal Council as she introduced the students and thanked them for allowing a time slot for the children. Students then had a chance to ask questions and give comments from, “what do you exactly do?” to “I’m studying the Gros-Ventre tribe and they’re awesome.”

Council members and attendees showed amusement and a warm reception at the children’s quick-witted interest and presence.
