Boys & Girls Club members need current applications for summer program
RONAN — Every day there are new events and activities filling the
summer schedule at the Boys & Girls Club of the Flathead
Reservation and Lake County. According to Unit Director Lee Schnase,
the summer program will be packed with fun and interesting experiences
for the club members.
This year, after a week of renovation, the club will open for
the summer on June 15 and run weekdays for 50 days ending on August 21.
The doors open at noon and programs and activities will be available up
until 6 p.m. Friday teen hours from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. will be posted
for those 12 and older who want to participate. All club members must
have a current application information for 2009 completed before
attending.
Club members from Polson and Pablo will be able to ride a bus
that leaves Cherry Valley parking lot in Polson at 12:30 every week day
except July 3 during the summer session. It will pick up club members
at Pablo Elementary School before arriving at the Ronan club site. The
bus then leaves the Ronan site at 5 p.m. dropping off the Pablo members
and returning to Polson by approximately 5:30 p.m.
Children 6 years to 18 years old that choose to take advantage
of the summer program from Polson or Pablo need to be registered as
club members prior to riding the bus. Many Polson members are already
registered if they attend the Friday After-School/BGC sessions at
Linderman School. Applications are available at the Polson After-
School/Boys & Girls Club Program, the club in Ronan or on the
website: www.bgclynx.org.
A five-dollar fee per year must accompany the registration. Parents are
asked to come to the club for orientation if they are not familiar with
the program. Prearrangements a day in advance are necessary for guests
of club members to come to the club. Club members who have already
registered for 2009 are included in the summer program activities.
The swimming pools will be open again with lessons being
offered beginning July 13. Sports camps will be scheduled for soccer,
football, baseball and football. There will also be Native American
Games. Library hours and computer lab is available, movies, arts and
crafts, special presentations and Barbeques are also on the agenda.
Horsemanship clinics, field trips to museums, Bison Range and
businesses will give kids a chance for experiences beyond the club
premises. A calendar is being maintained on the website, www.bgclynx.org or for more information you may call: 676-5437 or email hope@ronan.net.
