Flautist DeRouche workshops hosted by People Center on June 25
PABLO — On June 25, The People’s Center hosts a “Flute Workshop” with Blackfoot Tribal member and flautist Troy DeRoche.
DeRoche grew up in and around Heart Butte, the geographic heart
of the reservation. Troy is recognized as one of the few authentic
Native American Flute makers as each De Roche flute is an original
handcrafted piece of art.
As an in demand performer at shows, festivals, workshops and
exhibitions across the country, Troy has carried the gift of his music
worldwide. Now he comes to the Flathead Indian Reservation to share his
talent and knowledge. The quality of his craftsmanship is evident in
the beautiful clear tones of his instruments.
Troy and his wife Liz are the directors of Federation of
American Natives, which hosts the Hilo Inter-Tribal Pow-wow and Talking
Circle: The Big Island Indigenous Film Festival in Hilo, Hawaii. They
also perform at schools and military bases to share their culture with
those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience Native
American Music and stories. Fees for the workshop are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. Class space is limited so register early to reserve your spot.
To register for this workshop please call 406-675-0160 or send
