IMLS host meetings for historical photos
PABLO — The IMLS-NPC Historical Photo Exhibit Project Coordinator,
Mary Jane Charlo, will be holding three informative community meetings
to promote interest and gather historical images and information from
residents of the many communities of the reservation.
These images will be used in an exhibit that will be shown in
seven of the reservation communities. When the exhibit has completed
the tour, it will be housed at The Peoples Center. It will be a
valuable educational tool explaining the history of the reservation.
At each meeting, photo descriptions will be recorded, releases
signed by the owner, and stories will be told and recorded, pertaining
to each photograph. This photograph exhibit will demonstrate how
everyday people make history, and how history affects our daily lives.
Participants can proudly share their histories and contributions to the
development of the reservation as they know it today. Copies of
submitted photographs will be shown at the meetings provide an idea of
the type of photos accepted, (which is about anything and anything
having to do with the reservation).
History is comprised of memories of events, people, dates and
places that held our families together during hard times and good
times. These photographs have documented those memories and preserved
them for a time when they can be shared. Knowledge grows in value
through sharing. Education is the sharing of knowledge.
Designated Exhibit locations to date are: The Red Poppy, The
Arlee Historical Society, The Polson/Flathead Historical Museum, The
Hot Springs LaRue Museum, and The Tribal Complex. The following
dates are scheduled for meetings in the communities, so bring your
photos or just come and look at photos and listen to stories:
All meetings will start at 7 p.m.
