17 miles of Montana Highway 200 to be resurfaced - east and west of Dixon
DIXON — The Montana Department of Transportation would like to
notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to resurface about
16.9 miles of Montana Highway 200 in Sanders County and Lake County.
The project begins about ten miles west of Dixon (milepost 98.7) and
extends easterly 16.9 miles to the Highway 93 junction at Ravalli
(milepost 116.1). The entire project is within the Flathead Indian
Reservation.
Travel lanes and shoulders will be resurfaced with a surface
treatment known as “chip seal” or “seal and cover.” Safety improvements
will include increased skid resistance upon the highway surface and
highly reflective pavement markings.
The proposed improvements are needed to extend the service life of the pavement and to enhance the safety of the highway.
The public can expect single-lane closures in the project area
during construction hours. More information regarding closures will be
made available prior to the beginning of construction.
MDT anticipates no property acquisition or utility relocation for this project.
Construction is expected to begin in 2009, depending on availability of funding and completion of design.
