St. Luke awards seven scholarships
RONAN — Seven graduating seniors are the beneficiaries of $3,500 in
scholarships from St. Luke Community Healthcare. Three of the
recipients hale from Polson High School, three are graduating from
Ronan High School and the last is a Mission High graduate. Robert
Bruton is one of the three Polson High School graduates to receive a
Rosemary Miller Memorial Scholarship. He is the 18-year-old son of
Glenn Bruton and Stephanie Bruton both of Polson. Robert plans to
attend the University of Montana seeking a major in bio-chemistry and a
minor in botany with a goal of attending graduate school to study
plants and their medicinal purposes.
Sadie Frey is the Mission High School Senior who will receive a
$500 St. Luke Scholarship. The 18-year-old daughter of Raymie and Dolly
Frey is a member of the National Honor Society and is valedictorian of
the class of 2008. The Mission High student body president will be
attending pre-med at the University of Montana with plans to go to
medical school at the University of Washington.
One of three Ronan High School scholarship winners is Russell
Greenfield, the son of Dr. Dwynn and Aimee Greenfield. This 18-year-old
member of the National Honor Society and president of the senior class
will be attending the University of Montana in the fall with intentions
to major in a possible medical field. A second Ronan High
School scholarship recipient is Makenzy Kelch, the 18-year-old son of
Renee Kelch. This multi-talented student-athlete not only received
Academic All-State recognition while competing in three sports but
played trombone in the Ronan High School Jazz, Concert and Pep Bands.
Kelch plans on attending college with a goal of becoming a physical
therapist or a radiologist.
The third Ronan High School recipient of a Rosemary Miller
Memorial Scholarship from St. Luke Community Healthcare is Bethany
Kosola the 18-year-old daughter of Cheryl Erlenbusch of Ronan. An
honor-roll student who was chosen a Ronan representative to Montana
Girls’ State, Kosola has plans to attend the University Of Montana
College Of Technology to pursue a degree in radiology.
18-year-old Alexandra Noble is another scholarship winner from
Polson High School. This award-winning cross-country runner and author
of a book entitled The Second Heart is the daughter of Ron and Linda
Noble of Polson and plans on acquiring a bachelor’s degree in
kinesiology with a goal of becoming a physical therapist.
The third Polson High School scholarship recipient is Tyler
Sanford, the son of Mary Sanford of Polson. This 18-year-old soloist
for the PHS Concert Choir and varsity athlete has been accepted at
Montana State University at Bozeman to study pre-med with a lifelong
goal of becoming a doctor practicing rural medicine right here in the
Mission Valley. Shane Roberts, CEO at St. Luke Community
Healthcare, says, “We’re proud of all seven recipients of the Rosemary
Miller Memorial Scholarship. It’s a real pleasure to be able to give
back to the community helping young people reach goals that they have
set for themselves.”
Each year, St. Luke Community Healthcare Network offers seven
scholarships of $500 each. Students from each of the six high schools
in Lake County and from Hot Springs are encouraged to submit
scholarship applications.
