RONAN - Thirty-seven bags of garbage were gathered
and placed on the
edge of the highway south of Ronan after three different work schedules
for Boys & Girls Club members. Thanks to several Boys &
Girls
Club kids, three SKC Americorps volunteers and two BGC staff, the
Highway 93 cleanup project is complete.
The right-of-way
between the scenic rest stop south of Ronan and the Charlo turnoff was
the focus of a highway cleanup scheduled by the local Boys &
Girls
Club. The first phase of the project took place on March 25 and workers
finished the job on April 25 and 28. "I think it's great that one of
our club sponsors, S & S Sports, is making a donation to the
club
for completing the project," said John Schnase, Executive Director. The
work project was scheduled around the days when there was no school so
club members could participate. Club members get achievement points for
doing community service work such as the 93 cleanup project.
"It's certainly a shame that so many people would
continue to
clutter up this scenic area," said Schnase, "I hope the kids understand
the impact this makes and they learn that they can do better than the
people making such a mess of our community."
