Denver Native American high school basketball tournament set for March 28-30
DENVER - The United Native American Housing Association
is hosting the All West Native American Basketball Classic on March 28
to 30 in Denver, Colorado. There will be a slam-dunk and three-point
shooting contests as well. Senior scholarships are available from the
Mark K. Ulmer Native American Scholarship Foundation. Applications are
due on March 1.
Participation is limited to youth who are not over the
age of 19, who are currently enrolled in high school or have completed
their senior year in 2007 and graduated in good standing. They need to
be either enrolled members of an Indian Tribe or have parent(s) who are
enrolled. All participants will be required to pay a $5 fee for drug
testing. You do not have to be a team member of your local High School
team to be eligible of tryouts.
Requirements prior to tryouts:
1) Completed
All-Star basketball application, available with your high school
athletic director or pick up at the Salish & Kootenai Housing
Authority. An application can be mailed to you upon request.
2) Tribal enrollment (or letter attesting to first descendent status from enrollment office)
3) School transcripts.
