SKC annual scholarship
auction is Saturday
PABLO — On Saturday, May 19, Salish
Kootenai College will be hosting its annual scholarship auction and
gala. The event will take place at the KwaTaqNuk Resort in Polson. This
years theme is "A Tribute to Our Leaders: Past, Present, &
Future". Activities will began at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour and
bidding on silent auction items. Dinner will began at 6:30 p.m. along
with an honoring of three special people. The live auction will begin
at 8 p.m.
This year, the college has solicited many items
from throughout area businesses and also from professional sports
teams. The donations include items such as two footballs from the
Indiana Colts (one with the Super Bowl winning team members autographs,
and one with Coach Tony Dungy's autograph), a tipi, a satin star quilt
done by Linda King, assortment of framed prints and original artwork,
down-filled sleeping bags, gift certificates from as far west as
Spokane and as far east as Billings (many locally), and a variety of
beadwork and jewelry.
Last year's event raised over $36,000 that went directly to 45 students
in the form of scholarships. This year, Salish Kootenai College would
like to raise even more. Each year the continued growth of the college
brings in more students from throughout Indian Country and many new
local students. The students are becoming younger and younger and need
assistance in any possible way. Please assist us in providing aid to
each of our deserving students.
