Rocky Mountain Pro Stock to have season opener at home
PABLO — Big Sky Pro Racing Association's (BSPRA)
season opener is this Saturday, May 19, at the Mission Valley Speedway.
The Rocky Mountain Pro Stocks will conduct Hot Laps at 2 p.m.; Race
time starts at 3 p.m. with side-by-side racing at its best. Announcer
Lynn Olsen, the fastest mouth in the West, is calling the action; and
Pokey, the Outlaw Clown is kicking up dust with Susie his wacko
over-powered quad-sidekick. Pits will be open for fans after the race.
The Big Sky Pro Racing Association (BSPRA), the
50-member Mission Valley home-based racing class, races late models,
with 12-cars available. The BSPRA enjoys a growing history of
competitive northwest racing, and also have earned a reputation as
goodwill ambassadors representing the Mission Valley along the
northwest racing circuit. The BSPRA is now in its fifth season and has
five races scheduled this year at Mission Valley Speedway.
"We're sticking closer to home in 2007; put a break on the gas pump
blues." Says BSPRA president, Tracy Burland. "We're offering more
opportunities for hometown fans to judge how far our association has
come in the last few years. We're growing each season and welcome new
members," Burland says.
This Saturday's roll out is a gutsy season opener at
Pablo's 3/8-mile tri-oval Mission Valley Speedway. Rocky Mountain Pro
Stocks' engines roar through the afternoon with bumper-to-bumper
hardcore racing and nose-to-nose checker flag battles. Last year
offered close racing in a battle for points. Jarred Burland took top
honors, winning by a single point over Wade Shepard, with third place
captured by Tracy Burland, six points off Shepard's second place. A
review of the 2006 race season can be found on their web site:
www.bigskyracing.net.
Spotlighting the first race of the season, pro-rodeo
clown, Rob Johnston from Hot Springs, joins the pack appearing in a
staring role as Pokey the Outlaw Clown -featuring Susie, an ATV with an
attitude- an amusing act for all ages. Mission Valley favorite Lynn
Olsen is dusting off his pipes and will call BSPRA races all season. Be
there this weekend when Lynn slips his mouth into gear, so fast his
tongue might leave burn marks on the track.
Members of BSPRA invite race fans for a special evening
of no-nonsense motor sport racing. Blow out in the pits after the final
flag drops; serious competition, thrilling entertainment and family
fun.
