RONAN — The championship game between the Salish Kootenai College women's team and the Lady Badgers was close with the Lady Badgers leading 20-16 at the half. Three players for the Lady Badgers scored in double digits. A team effort clearly made the difference in the victory as Jen Kipp tallied 13 points and Sierra Schildt and Laura Olsonaski each scored 12 points to lead the Lady Badgers to a 49-39 victory.

With 11 minutes remaining in the second half, things appeared to be going well for SKC as the Lady Bison led 31-30 with a power move by post player Carla McLean. Then, the Lady Badgers heated things up as Sierra Schildt grabbed a defensive rebound to spark an 8-0 run. Kipp was fouled on a three-point attempt
and made all three of her free throws.

Meanwhile, the Lady Bison couldn't get any shots to fall. With no shots falling in the hoop, the Lady Bison succumbed to the Lady Badgers in the final minutes as Laura Olsonaski made a two pointer to up the lead by six points. Jen Kipp's three-pointer with a minute remaining was the dagger in the heart as the lead swelled and the score was 44-38. Two missed field goal attempts, one an airball, dashed hopes of an SKC comeback. The Lady Badgers made five of their six free throw attempts in the remaining seconds in the ball game to seal the ten-point victory.

All-stars for the women's section of the tournament were Tahni Edmo from BCC, Tate Locust of OLC, Jamie Schall from team Jackson, Dakota Gremmer and Lisa Mathias of Cascade Chill, Kodi Kuka, Gen Cochrane, and Bobbi Woodworth of SKC, and Jennifer Kipp and Shayna Schildt from Lady Badgers. Most Valuable Players honors went to Lady Badgers' post Laura Olsonaski.
