Fuels program exceeds goals
RONAN - For the third year in a row, the CSKT Fuels Program has exceeded its fuels treatment program target goals.
Among the key people who were instrumental in completing
some 9,533 acres of fuels treatments this year - 106 percent of their
2006 target - were:
• from the Division of Fire/Fuels: Ron Swaney, Darell Clairmont, T. Camel, Art Trahan, and Marlin McDonald;
• from Tribal Forestry/Forest Development: Jean Matt, Jim Finley,
Mike Moran, Jerry McElderry, Tom Antiste, Richard Burland, Kevin
Clairmont, David Haynes, Gary Morigeau, Matthew Morigeau, Mike McCrea,
and Alan Westerman;
• from the MV/TEA Fuels Crew: Don Carpentier, Robert McCrea, Jim
Morigeau, Jacque Gram, Jeremiah Morigeau, Doug Mays, Gerry Matt, Matt
Torosian, and Chris McCrea.
According to the BIA, the combined total of treated acres for fiscal years 2004 through 2006 is 23,629 acres.
At the Jan. 9 BIA Northwest Regional Office fuels
workshop, the key players listed above were presented with an inscribed
commendation plaque.
The regional office also recognized that it is largely
through the efforts of the hard-working CSKT fuels program workers that
the office has met its targets for fiscal years 2004 through 2006.
