Long-time CSKT employees honored

POLSON - The October 2006 and January 2007 Employee Awards were presented during a Dec. 20 meeting at KwaTaqNuk Resort.

The awards ceremony began with Tony Harwood presenting firefighter awards: Crew Member of the Year is Dan Trahan; Squad Boss of the Year is Richard Fisher; Crew Boss of the Year is Pierre Malatare; Camp Crew Person of the Year is Jennifer Morigeau; and Camp Crew Boss of the Year is Lloyd Barnaby.

Tribal Councilman Reuben Mathias presented the tribal employee awards.

35 Years of service: Michael Durglo, Sr. - Michael completed 35 years of Tribal service on Dec. 28. He began employment in August of 1962 and has worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Fire Control, Mission Valley Power, and Salish Culture Committee. Since 2002, he has been employed at the Preservation Office. He will receive a $750 cash award for his years of service.

30 Years of service: Margene Asay - Margene completed 30 years of Tribal service on Dec. 25. She began employment under the Tribal Trainee Program during the summer of 1963 and also worked for the Head Start Program. Since 1977, she has worked for Tribal Health and Human Services. She will receive a $500 gift certificate for her years of service.

25 Years of service:
* Carole Lankford, who completed 25 years of Tribal service on Dec. 25. She began employment for the Manpower Program in 1981 and has worked for Tribal Administration, Fish and Game, and S&K Holding. Since 1994, she has served on the Tribal Council and has served as Vice Chairperson since January of 2006. She will receive a $250 cash award for her years of service.
* Ralph Goode, who completed 25 years of Tribal service on Jan. 6. He began employment at Tribal Forestry in 1970 and also worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He returned as Tribal Forestry Department Head in 1988. Since 1999, he has been the General Manager for Mission Valley Power. He will receive a $250 gift certificate for his years of service.
* Antoinette Mitchell, who completed 25 years of Tribal service on Dec. 4. She began employment at Tribal Administration in 1981 and also worked for the Personnel Office. Since 1987, she has been employed at Salish Kootenai Housing Authority. She will receive a $ 250.00 gift certificate for her years of service.

The following employees received a diamond pin and Pendleton blanket for 20 years of service:
* Albert McLeod began employment at the Post and Pole Yard in 1983. Since 1993, he has been employed at Salish Kootenai Housing Authority.
* Sheryl Glover began employment at the Tribal Credit Office in 1987. She also worked for the Natural Resources Department. Since 1997, she has been employed at Mission Valley Power.
* Thomas Haynes began employment at Kicking Horse Job Corp Center in 1987, and also worked for Tribal Law and Order and the Tribal Forestry Department. Since 1989, he has been employed at the Fish and Wildlife Program.
* Judy Herman began employment with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1983. In October of 1996, she became a Tribal employee and is presently employed at the Central Mail Center.
* Gwenette Clairmont began employment at S&K Electronics in 1986. Since 1984, she has been employed at Salish Kootenai Housing Authority.
* Lorraine Stevens began employment at the Head Start Program in 1984. She also worked at Kicking Horse Job Corp Center. Since 2001, she has been employed at the Salish Kootenai Housing Authority.
* Cloann Westerman began employment at the Natural Resources Department and also worked for Information Technology and the Head Start Program. Since 2005, she has been employed at the Tribal Lands Department.
* James Westerman began employment at Tribal Forestry in 1984 and also worked for the Salish Kootenai Housing Authority and the Fish and Wildlife Program. Since 1989, he has been employed at the Natural Resources Department in the Shoreline Protection Program.
* Delores Dumontier began employment at Tribal Court in 1986 and has also worked at Tribal Health and Human Services. Since 2000, she has been employed at Tribal Probation/Parole.
* Brad Trosper began employment with Tribal Realty in 1983. He also worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. In 1990, he became a Tribal employee and is presently employed at the Tribal Lands Department.
* Francis Auld began employment with the Tribal Health Department in 1985. He has also worked in the Natural Resources Department and the Kootenai Culture Program. He is presently employed with the Tribal Preservation Department.
* Betty Steele began employment with the Tribal Commodity Office in 1984. She has worked for the Head Start Program, Personnel/JTPA Office, and Kicking Horse Job Corp Center. She is presently employed with the Tribal Health & Human Services Department.
* Doug Morigeau began employment at Flathead Post and Pole in 1986. He also worked for the Tribal Fish & Game Department. He is presently employed with Two Eagle River School.
* Doug Dupuis began employment at Tribal Forestry in 1977. Since 1987, he has been employed at the Tribal Lands Department.
* Timothy McLure began employment with the Tribal Forestry Department in 1976. Since 1991, he has been employed at the Tribal Law and Order Department.
* Mary Josephine Quequesah began employment with the Tribal Health Department in 1986. She has also worked for the Kerr Elderly Program. Since 1998, she has been employed at the Salish Culture Committee.
* Leonard Grenier began employment with the Flathead Forestry Co-op Crew in 1986. Since 1998, he has been employed at the Tribal Forestry Department.

The following employees received ruby pins for 15 years of service:
* Royal Deranleau has spent his entire career with the Natural Resources Department. Since 1991, he has been employed at the Safety of Dams Program in Ronan.
* Julie McDonald began employment at Salish Kootenai College in 1991. She has also worked at Two Eagle River School and the Department of Human Resource Development. Since 2005, she has been employed at the Tribal Forestry Department.
* Brian Hall has spent his entire career with the Natural Resources Department. Since 1991, he has been employed at the Safety of Dams Program in Ronan.
* Lorrie Meeks has spent her entire career with the Tribal Health and Human Services Department, where she began employment in 1991.
* Lynette Moran has spent her entire career with the Tribal Health and Human Services Department where she began employment in 1991.
* Larry Pitts has spent his entire career with the Tribal Health and Human Services Department where he began employment in 1991.
* Sharon Haynes began employment with Indian Health Service in 1991. In 1993, she became a Tribal employee and is presently employed at Tribal Health and Human Services.
* Alicia Gray has spent her entire career with Tribal Law and Order where she began employment in 1991.
* Melanie Piedalue began employment with the Tribal Forestry/Fire Control Department in 1991. Since 1993, she has been employed at the Tribal Personnel Office.
* Gloria Quiver began employment for the Work Experience Program in 1991. In 1993, she became a Tribal employee and is presently employed at Tribal Health and Human Services.
* Richard Janssen, Jr. began employment with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1991. He has also worked for the Tribal Forestry Department and Mission Valley Power. Since 1999, he has been employed at the Natural Resources Department.
* Robert Fyant has spent his entire career with Kicking Horse Job Corp Center where he began employment in 1991.
* Darrell Papin began employment with Kicking Horse Job Corps Center in 1986 and worked until 1989. In 1994, he returned to Kicking Horse Job Corp Center where he is presently employed.
* Bert Carpentier began employment with Salish Kootenai Housing Authority in 1985. He also worked for Mission Valley Power. In 1999, he returned to Salish Kootenai Housing Authority where he is presently employed.
* Mary Jane Charlo began employment for the Head Start Program in 1990. She has also worked for Two Eagle River School and Salish Kootenai Housing Authority. Since 2002, she has been employed at the Peoples Center.
* David Whitlock has spent his entire career with Mission Valley Power where he began employment in 1991.
* Daniel Normandeau began employment with the Natural Resources Department in 1985. He also worked at Kicking Horse Job Corp Center. Since 2005, he has been employed at Gaming Operations.
* Zelda Charlo began employment in 1980 with the Tribal Commodity Program. She has also worked for Early Childhood Services and Tribal Health and Human Services. Since 2001, she has been employed at the Natural Resources Department.
* Aaron Pfister has spent his entire career with Mission Valley Power where he began employment in 1991.
* Dennis McIntire has spent his entire career with Mission Valley Power where he began employment in 1991.
* Roxana Colman Herak began employment at Salish Kootenai College in 1981. She has also worked for the Tribal Legal Department, Early Childhood Service and Kicking Horse Job Corp Center. Since 1999, she has been employed at the Department of Human Resource Development.
* Tamara Hamel began employment with F.R.A.C.A.P. in 1981. She has also worked for Tribal Health and Human Services Department, Kootenai Culture, and Salish Kootenai College. Since 1999, she has been employed at the People's Center.
* Thomas Johnson began employment with the Natural Resources Department in 1986. He also worked for the Kootenai Culture Committee, JTPA, Shoreline Protection, Char-Koosta News, Tribal Probation, and Salish Kootenai Housing Authority. Since 2001, he has been employed at the Tribal Lands Department.

The following employees received 10-year pins for their years of service:
