Hershman competes in
Australia games
ARLEE -- Not everyone gets an invitation to
Australia, but Seth Hershman of Arlee is one of two Montanans who
represented our state in the International Down Under Games recently.
Making it to the state cross country tournament
brought him the invitation to participate as part of the team.
Hershman, entering his senior year at Arlee High School, was selected
to be part of the Montana, Wyoming and Colorado team at this year's
Games, held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on July 21st and 24th.
During the school year, Hershman runs cross
country and competes in track for Arlee, sprinting the 100-yard dash,
the 200-yard dash, and as anchorman on the relay team.
Seth is continuing a legacy begun by his cousin,
Rusty Hanson, who attended the Games as a wrestler, and his sister,
A.J. Hershman, who also competed in the Games in cross country as she
was entering her junior year. Both graduated from Arlee High School.
In high school, Seth participates in drama club,
student council, the yearbook committee, and the prom committee. He
also serves as a teacher's aide and has been involved in a number of
community projects. In addition, he was one of the founders of the
Organic Youth Entrepreneurial Farm Project at Common Ground Farm.
Hershman hopes to attend the University of
Montana, and dreams of continuing on to study medicine. He is the son of
Charlene R.Hanson and Daniel Hershman of
Arlee.
